NOTICE: Your blogs have comment tech issues

Posted on April 28, 2022May 2, 2022 by Diana

April 28, 2022

This blog post has been PRE-SCHEDULED to publish on this date as I’m in the middle of handling a lot of things for the next couple of weeks or so and will not have time to be online. Thanks for understanding.

I’ve noticed there are A LOT OF US who are trying to comment on your blogs and are unable to do so because Google rolled out (and is still in the process of rolling out) a new commenting platform. If you use Blogger as your blogging platform, you need to contact them and let them know your regular visitors are unable to leave comments. I’m one of them. I stopped using Blogger a couple years ago (for a different reason), but the company is ALWAYS doing some tech update or other that always seems to make things harder for their users and those who visit the blogs.

I’m one of your visitors who, for at least half of the blogs I visit regularly, am no longer able to leave comments. I know others are having the same issue as I’ve seen their comments left on other blogs whose commenting platforms either worked or are a different platform.

This is what we see:

Guess what happens when we click on the button that says “SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE” … it flips us to the top of your page and does NOT work to sign in, no matter how many times we try.

EVEN THOUGH WE ARE ALREADY SIGNED IN ! ! !

Then, for the other half of the blogs we visit and can leave comments, this is what we see:

You can put your cursor where it says “Enter Comment,” start typing, and it works perfectly. Although the set-up of the commenting platform is different and can/does cause other issues at times. That right there tells me I’m ALREADY SIGNED IN to Google. (I’m always signed in anyway since my laptop is private use.)

Go in to your settings for your blog comments and make sure everything is correct. If you don’t know how to do that, Blogger has a user area and also a support forum. If nothing else, PLEASE contact Blogger, let them know about this problem and ask them to correct it, or at least ask how you can fix it. Otherwise, none of us can comment on your blogs and you will probably lose visitors.

If you’ll comment on my post, I’ll double-check your latest post and let you know (when I have a minute) if yours is one of those affected (either here as a reply to your comment OR as a comment on your blog if I’m able to do so, so check back here just in case).

Your loyal visitors thank you and appreciate your time looking into this!

Have a blessed day!

This blog uses comment moderation. Some comment moderation is automatic with certain words and data strings effecting an immediate ban – they will never even be seen by me or other readers or commenters. I will not tolerate nor give an audience to threats or rude comments. Please allow several hours to a couple days (sometimes longer, because hey, I don’t live my life online) for your comment to be approved.

Thanks for this nicely laid out and detailed post. I’ve been hearing lots of people with commenting issues. I think mine is still working and I haven’t had issues commenting myself, but I’m going to be watching this.

You’re welcome. So far, yes, yours works as it’s the plain Blogger pop-out. I’m not sure, but I THINK it’s because people choose the Google comment platform and that’s where the problems have originated. I can comment on yours just fine, at least so far. Depends on if Blogger changes the pop-out type also. If that changes, I’ll let you know since I have your email from your commenting. Blessings!

Thanks! I’d appreciate knowing if it wasn’t working.
PS – you don’t like chocolate? I’m worried about you! 🙂

    Dearest Diana,

But the TRICK is to start commenting right on or above that DOTTED line…

The widget of the first photo, on ‘My Blog List’ that most bloggers use on their side line, is no longer showing. Indeed, they continue messing up and changing things and each time I guess some people give up.

    Hugs,

    Mariette

I have had no issues. I log into my Google Blogger account first then I comment on my friends posts with no issues.

Hope all is well Diana. Email me if you need to vent!

    Hugs,

    Liz

Here I am, and so far so good with leaving a reply. Thank you for the info. I’ve heard others are having issues, but didn’t know what to do about it since I was not having the same issue. Thank you!!

It happens when using an I pad or a phone to comment. Most desktops work ok…strange no matter what the setting for comments. I changed a setting from embed to pop up for comments and that may help…see if you can leave a comment for me now.

Excellent, Connie! I had tried on my laptop, my son’s computer, and his iPad and couldn’t comment. SO HAPPY to be able to comment on your blog again! Bravo!

👉  HEADS UP 9/5/2022  👈

On or around 9/5/2022 my website will be unavailable for a full day while the hosting provider migrates all worldwide accounts to a new operating system. This means they have to suspend all accounts during the migration and will provide a simple public message that migration is in progress. I’m giving you notice now so you aren’t surprised last minute. As the date gets closer, I will also add this notice at the top of each of my blog posts for a couple weeks as a reminder.
