April 11, 2022 I’m having a hard time mentally and physically. I have things I could blog about, but I’m just not into it right now. More than a month without a working car. John’s only been able to run me around once in the past ten or so days. The guy who came to look at my car three weeks ago still hasn’t gotten back to me … even though he was told by the benevolence pastor last week to contact me. Not that it matters, but dude, c’mon, at least tell me you can’t do anything for me. Nope, don’t even ask about public transportation … didn’t work out due to my hyperosmia. Almost had to go to the emergency room. And that…

Trash truck
March 28, 2022 Just to do a quick explain … the “near-miss-slash-not-a-real-accident” thing was a big trash truck running a red light. If we’d been in the intersection even a half-second sooner or later, it would have been very bad. Thank the Lord for quick reflexes and always being alert (son). You know how a person will throw their arms out to stop a fall? Well, as he braked hard, and I saw the trash truck at the same time, I threw my arms out toward the dashboard. Of course, momentum caused both of us to go forward some, even with seatbelts … and so the force was hard on my hands against the dashboard. Thus the reason my hands, arms, and shoulders have been…
Short timeout
March 25, 2022 Hey y’all, sorry I haven’t replied to comments on my previous post. I’m a-hurtin’ right now from a “near miss” type of “not a real accident” that happened earlier in the week. I need a couple more days for my hands (and arms and shoulders) to feel better to type. Tell ya about it then. Hugs and blessings, my friends. This blog uses comment moderation. Different things
March 22, 2022 We had a few days of sunny skies and excellent temperatures, mostly the mid-70s. It was delightful. About mid-afternoon yesterday it began raining – finally! It’s been quite the beneficial rain over the past 24 hours. About noon today, it was mixed with wet snow. Praise the Lord for much-needed moisture! I’m wanting to get into the garden to start planting! And the whole time the winds have been blowing at 40+ mph, so I heard the rain and wind hitting the the window right above my bed all night. Starting tomorrow, the temps will return to the 50s and eventually get back up into the 70s. And it’s time to pull out the backpacks to prepare them for the yearly tornado…
She could do many things
March 17, 2022 I’ve decided to keep with the genealogy/family history topic for a few posts. It seems a good distraction for the time being, and I enjoy the time I spend working on my genealogy and family history. Like gardening, it’s therapy for me… I can disappear in my mind to another place for a while. I want to say, first, that whatever bothers you, whatever makes your heart heavy, whatever is keeping you from living in the blessings of life … PLEASE take it to God. Lay whatever it is at His feet and let Him handle it. In 1 Peter 5:7, God’s Word tells us: “Cast all your worries upon Him for He cares for you.” God is bigger than anything we…
National genealogy day
March 12, 2022 Today is National Genealogy Day. If you are reading this tomorrow then it was yesterday. Or whenever. Want to know one thing about those of us who are genealogists? We groan inwardly when folks spell that word incorrectly. It’s G E N E A L O G Y … with an A in there, not an O. Haha! A second thing – and this rivals the first – is when other people steal our work, or use it without citing or giving credit. It is a huge NO-NO to take other genealogists’ hard work and use it as your own. Most of us have spent decades doing research, citing all of our sources, photocopying documents, books, photos, and all that … and…
